For the past seven years, To Honor Our Champions has been our primary fundraiser, giving our supporters a chance to celebrate the vital service we provide in San Diego. Each year, we honor two outstanding individuals (one male and one female) who have made a significant impact on the lives of children, youth and families in our communities. The event includes a reception and dinner, presentations by youth essay contest winners, tributes to our champions, and silent and live auctions. For over 30 years YMCA Youth & Family Services has been meeting the needs of at-rish youth and families in San Diego County. We provide essential services to nearly 40,000 children, youth and their families; which includes prevention and treatment of child abuse, shelter care for troubled and homeless adolescents, basic living skills training, family life education, counseling and more. We believe that your sponsorship of To Honor Our Champions is a win-win proposition. As a local business, you receive great exposure in the community and local media; and as our primary fundraising event, To Honor Our Champions provides much needed support for our programs. Through our donors’ past support, we are excited to report that we were able to purchase two properties in 2003: a home for Turning Point, our transitional living program for homeless youth, as well as a 6,400 square-foot youth center on Meade Avenue. A portion of this year’s support will go towards renovation and construction for these two new properties. We believe that YMCA Youth & Family Services is making a difference in San Diego County.
